Gorleston CCTV Ltd launched
in October 2007 following 12 months of hard work organising
the project. It was the idea of the local community police officer
Jason Howell and business crime prevention officer Patrick Bailey
from the
Norfolk
Police. A privately financed limited company has
been established completely independent of any other CCTV system
in the Great Yarmouth borough. The company is supported by
Great
Yarmouth Enterprise,
Oovee Web Design
and other local businesses.
Gorleston CCTV consists of 5 fully functioning PTZ (Pan, tilt,
zoom) cameras; they cover the entire town centre and include
Baker Street, Lowestoft Road, Church Lane, Palmer Road and Blackwall
Reach.
Gorleston CCTV provides many benefits for premises on the High
street, it increases the deterrent of crime, which will include
shop theft, criminal damage, violent crime and anti social behaviour.
It is also used to assist in the detection of crime.
